Teaching English as a Second Language (177)
To be eligible for institutional recommendation from Mississippi State University for a supplemental endorsement in teaching English as a second language, a valid 3 or 5 year Mississippi educator's license is required.
- Specialized Education (15 credit hours)
- EN 4403: Introduction to Linguistics (3 credit hours – offered in the fall and spring semesters; must take this course first)
- EN 4463: Studies in Second Language Acquisition (3 credit hours – offered in spring semester only)
- EN 4433: Approaches to Teaching English as a Second Language (3 credit hours – offered in spring semester only)
- EN 4453: Methods in Teaching English as a Second Language (3 credit hours – offered in fall semester only)
- Choose one from the following
- EN 3423: Descriptive English Grammar (3 credit hours – offered in fall semester only)
- EN 4443: English Syntax (3 credit hours – offered in spring semester only)
All coursework must be completed at Mississippi State University and with a grade of "C" or higher.
