From Learning to Teaching:
Equipping Future Educators with Real-World Experience
Your Teaching Internship Journey Starts Here
Senior teacher education majors: You’re almost there! During your last semester, Mississippi State’s Office of Clinical/Field-Based Instruction, Licensure, and Outreach provides a high-quality field experience program, which is the culmination of your teacher education program. You will work full-time in two eight-week placements with different age groups and mentor teachers or in one placement – all designed to equip you with the real-world experience you need to excel in your own classroom after graduation.
100% of teacher education students are placed in a teaching internship prior to graduation.
Inside the Classroom
Our team coordinates placements for elementary, music, secondary, and special education students as well as those majoring in kinesiology with a concentration in physical education and coaching. Classroom assignments are made by our team in cooperation with local public school district administrators and professional staff.
During your internship, you will observe, assist and gradually assume full responsibility for classroom instruction. The internship is considered by many to be the most important phase of professional preparation, as you will apply and test the principles, theories and methods learned in your teacher education program.
